A special world for you and me

            Odysseus is very intelligent getting out of those life-ending situations.  Odysseus and his men went to Cyclops Island where Polyphemus was living with all the other  Cyclops, and they kill people.  Odysseus and his men get trapped in Polyphemus’s cave.  Odysseus told Polyphemus that his name was “Nobody,” so when he stabbed the Cyclops in the eye he would yell out that nobody did it so the other Cyclops wouldn’t come to help. His intelligence got them to escape by stabbing  the Cyclops in the eye and when Polyphemus lets his cattle out him and his men would crawl under the cattle so that when they leave he will just think its his sheep.  Another time was when Odysseus came home and he was dressed as a beggar and he entered the challenge to get Penelope.  It was intelligent how he planned to kill all the suitors and to take their weapons.  When Odysseus went to war in Troy he thought of the wooden horse trick to get all their men inside to destroy the city of Troy and so they can win the war.

            Odysseus was an arrogant character and it got him in trouble alot throughout the story.  when Odysseus and his men escapes from Cyclops island Odysseus began to be arrogant and says to Polyphemus that he can’t be stopped and Odysseus told him his real name was Odysseus, that he is the son of Laertes, and that he lives in Ithaca.  Then Polyphemus took a big rock and threw it at their ship nearly hitting them and if it did it would’ve killed them.  Then Polyphemus put a curse on Odysseus by calling on his father Poseidon.  Later, Zeus Poseidon’s brother punished them and made their ship crash killing half of his men.  On his journey there were times when odysseus got out of situations because of the Gods but he did not thank them and Odysseus took all the credit.

            The good thing about Odysseus was that he was faithful especially to his wife.  When Odysseus was on Calypso’s Island he wanted to go home so much to see his wife.  Him and Calypso would make love every but Odysseus would cry and be mad at himself  because he wants to go back to his wife Penelope.  When Hermes came to tell Calypso that Odysseus has to leave because Zeus said, Odysseus was happy.  When Odysseus and Calypso ate that night they began to talk and Calypso said as long as shes been with him and the things they did and how pretty she was he still wanted to go home.  Knowing that all the bad things that happened to him at sea because of Poseidon he still wants to go back to his wife.  When Odysseus gets home he enters the challenge to get his wife back and he loves her so much that he kills the suitors that try to get with his wife.

            Odysseus is just an interesting character who did alot of things to help people.  He has alot more traits about him that i can write about but his arrogance, intelligence, and his faithfulness is the main traits that make him a great character that he is.

My favorite Greek God after all my research is Zeus, the Lord of the Sky, and God of Rain.  Zeus was the sixth child born to the Titans, Cronus and Rhea.  Zeus was the main God and ruler of all Gods and Goddesses who lived on Mt. Olympus. Zeus controlled thunder, lightning, and rain.  Cronus was warned that one of his children will overthrow him so he began to eat all of his children.  He ate the first five and Zeus being the last child was about to be eaten, but Rhea and Gaia(Rhea’s mom) wrapped clothing around a stone so Cronus would think its Zeus and Cronus ate it.   When Zeus got older he went to his father and demanded that he bring back his brothers and sisters in which he ate.  With the help  of Metis, he got his siblings back because Metis gave Cronus a potion that made him throw them up.  After, Zeus declared war with his father and the Titan Dynasty and Zeus defeated them.  In the book “The Odyssey,” during Odysseus’s journey back home to Ithaca, Zeus had to punish Odysseus and his men for disrespecting or disobeying the Gods.  Zeus created the four seasons because he is also the God of weather and created the five different ages.  In Greece they have a place you can visit called the “The Temple of Zeus” which holds the ivory and gold statue of  Zeus which is known as one of the “Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.”  The Olympic games were also held there to honor Zeus.  In my opinion, Zeus was the greatest of all Gods in Greek Mythology.
